A marvelous piece of music created by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop - an arrangement of the Welsh folk tune Tros y Garreg (Over The Rock) preceded by Robin Jones (who later left to head up the presentation department at S4C) opening up BBC Cymru Wales (from the old studios in Broadway, Cardiff) in 1974.1974 - 1981

BBC Wales stuck with the mechanical clock throughout the 1981-1985 logo period. The left clip introduces Wales Today, which for a time was broadcast before the Six O'clock News.1985 - 1991
BBC1 Wales Clocks1986
BBC Wales caught up with the computerised world of clocks when the COW logo was introduced and BBC Wales opted for its clock to have the centrepiece dot, which was noticeably absent from the Network clock. These two clips see the clock introducing Breakfast Time.

Fifteen seconds of clock to introduce the 9am news summary. Looks like the announcer probably didn't know who was reading the news, hence the announcement finishing four seconds before 9am.

BBC1 Wales really went to town for their 1989 logo with a full musical ident lasting nearly 30 seconds. This clip sees the full outing of this ident as BBC1 Wales starts the day on Christmas Eve 1989.

BBC One Wales Football2002
Tuesday 14th May 2002 saw a historic football match. Wales actually won, against Germany! The score, 1 - 0.
To celebrate this win those imaginative guys in the BBC Wales promotion department created these 2 idents, shown the following evening, Wednesday 15th May.
BBC One Wales Festival2002 A second version was also screened, this time the Festival ident with added BBC NIL Germany!

BBC 1 Wales Euro 20042003 A special ident shown at 19:00 on Wednesday 18th November 2003 before Wales' crucial Euro 2004 qualifying playoff with Russia at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

BBC One Wales Skateboarders2004 First shown on Friday 5th September, here's BBC Wales' version of the Skateboarders at Belfast's Harland and Wolf docks.
BBC One Wales Africa2004 First shown at 7pm on Monday 5th January 2004, this special ident was introduced for BBC ONE's Big Cat Week.
BBC Wales - Saturday 5th February 2005. After a 12 year absence, Wales re-gained their hold on England. Ok, it was only 11-9, but a victory non the less! Well done boys!
