With the formation of the new BBC North East Super Region comprising of BBC North and BBC North East (of course), BBC North adopted the BBC North East COW Globe! Confusing or what?
BBC1 North Ident1996
The BBC North East Super Region was later expanded to include BBC North West. The name BBC North East would have been silly, so it became simply BBC North. The Globe opposite was used by all three regions.
