A selection featuring the new corporate BBC logo. The full-screen format was a step backwards for BBC2, though the text was centred for widescreen.

BBC2's best know celebrities come out to promote the channel's Christmas fayre this year, including chef Gary Rhodes, Jeremy Clarkson, Quentin Willson and those irrepressible Two Fat Ladies. Vic, Bob and Ulrika also had their own sequence.

It's traditionally a time for high spirits, and the 2 goes with the flow! Having sprouted a pair of wings, our hero sets off to brighten the bleak winter landscape as only he knows how. Clips B and C might not be complete - apologies.

There were no festive slides in 1997 and 1998, but they returned by popular demand in 1999!
BBC2 Widescreen Stings
When digital television was set loose in 1998, many of the BBC2 stings survived. More were added as the years progressed:
BBC2 Christmas Sting2000 A wintry theme for BBC2 at Christmas 2000;the snow is falling and the 2s are having fun! This was the only bumper I recorded at the time. However, the entire package of stings, along with the Christmas 2000 ident, were amazingly revived in 2006 for the Winter Olympics. See the 2001 page to see the revised clips.
