From the late 70s Childrens Programmes on BBC1. This 2 minute clip includes a link into Play School.
BBC1 Childrens Programmes
Straight after Christmas and BBC1 wastes no time getting back into its usual afternoon routine. Just before afternoon children's programmes comes this particularly interesting menu slide, coloured by the NODD system (note the colours are those of the BBC1 globe).1980s
BBC1 Childrens Programmes
A few minutes to spare before Play School so let's have a look at this afternoon's children's programmes with Uncle Andy Cartledge. What would today's youngsters make of the background image?
BBC1 Children's Continuity
BBC1 Children's Holiday Link
The way CBBC continuity should be done! A standard link between morning children's programmes during the 1981 Christmas holiday.
BBC1 Grange Hill link
No Phillip Schofield in those days but children's continuity still came from the Broom Cupboard - otherwise known as NC1, and was no different from standard links.
Children's BBC - 60 Years
A compliation of BBC1 links and international broadcaster messages from 60 years of Children's BBC1984 - 1985
BBC1 Children's Links
In the final days before the introduction of Children's BBC, the BBC micro was called upon to provide linking animations between afternoon children's programmes.

Children's BBC
On Monday 9th September 1985, BBC1 introduced umbrella branding for children's programmes, almost three years after ITV. An unknown presenter, Phillip Schofield, was chosen to front what initially was known as BBC Children's Presentation. Philip would introduce programmes in-vision, and LIVE, from "The Broom Cupboard" - in reality the BBC1 continuity desk.
Children's BBC - Phillip Schofield
Phillip ends today's Children's BBC with a rundown of tomorrow's programmes using props sent in by viewers. A promo follows before Phillip introduces the next programme over the BBC1 globe.
Children's BBC - Debbie Flint
The lovely perky Debbie Flint shows us what what we can get if we get the 3rd coupon from the Radio Times...a World Cup Wallchart! Debbie is now a presenter on QVC, bless her.
Children's BBC - Andy Crane
Aah, the old BBC Micro graphics introduces Andy Crane, seemingly in a world of his own, reading birthday cards during a CBBC morning slot.
Children's BBC - BBC Two Ident
Another BBC micro ident; thought to have been introduced in 1986, This example is used on BBC Two hence the white background
Children's BBC Ident
A stop-frame animated version of the Children's BBC logo was introduced in 1987, allowing more flexibility than a computer could offer at the time.
Children's BBC - Andy Crane
Starting another afternoon of Children's BBC - fourteen Children's BBC days before Christmas in fact - is Andy Crane. The clip also includes holding slides for tomorrow's BBC1 3.30 programme and for the next programme on BBC2.
No Limits - Children's BBC & Now on Two Features
Whilst Channel 4 had Network 7, on the BBC was No Limits, the youth and entertainment music show hosted by Jenny Powell and Tony Baker produced by BBC Manchester. In the left clip Tony visits TVC and interviews Andy Crane about the broom cupboard. In the right clip Jenny Powell interviews Simon Potter about Now On Two.
Children's BBC - Andy Crane
Andy Crane again here, broadcasting from the BBC1 continuity booth.
Children's BBC - Andy Crane
Andy displays a talent for using modelling clay in this end-of-day clip. Sorry for the faintness of the sound on this clip.
Children's BBC - Christmas Switch-On
Andy Crane has a special guest in to switch on the Broom Cupboard Christmas lights - Her Majesty the Queen! It's not of course, it's actually Jeanette Charles, who's made a career of impersonating Elizabeth II and has appeared as the monarch in countless films and TV shows.
Children's BBC
BBC B and BBC Master were now making way for the Archimedes computers, and the final CGI ident was programmed on an Archimedes. Was it played out from tape?
CBBC - Andi Peters Slideshow
Andi Peters has a novel way of telling you what's on CBBC today - he puts up the standard BBC1 holding slides for each programme! These would rarely have been seen unless a technical fault occurred.
CBBC Christmas
The Newsround team sing a version of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" that will have you imploding with embarrassment. What has Juliet Morris got going on with that hair?!? Anyway Andi Peters and Edd The Duck get festive.
B.F.T.
Short for But First This, Phillipa Forrester and Simon Parkin host the entertainment show, featuring bizzarre titles. On the show today, Willy Fog (one of my favourite cartoons ever), quiz Alphabet Attack, Hartbeat, Playdays, Double Dare and The O Zone. Jean Boht from the sitcom Bread puts in an appearance "talking mum".
B.F.T. 2
Same show, different channel! Shown on BBC 2,todays show includes Tales Of A Wise King, Charlie Brown Specials, Playdays, Bitsa, Telling Tales, Barbar the Elephant, Blood And Honey (read by special guest Tony Robinson), Defenders Of The Earth, The Blue Peter Omnibus, Dark Season, Strike A Pose, Bozpops and The O Zone....phew!1991 - 1994
Children's BBC
Designed as part of the 1991 corporate revamp, but not introduced until seven months after the "1" and "2" symbols. This is a clean version, so enjoy!
Children's BBC
The same animation remained at Christmas, with the usual jingle replaced by something more seasonal
Children's BBC Start-Up
Andi Peters kicks off another afternoon of CBBC. Remember the studio he's in is the same studio used by the regular announcers - how on earth did they manage to work underneath all that clutter?
Children's BBC - Toby Antis
Toby Anstis with a breakfast CBBC. Seems he cant find the right tape!1994 - 1997
Children's BBC - Christmas
CBBC introduced a more colourful, cheery look in 1994, with the Broom Cupboard making way for the purpose-built Studio 9. This festive animation was used until 1996. The ident was designed by BBC Manchester's Graphic Design Department's Gregory Millar and Sue Frost.
Children's BBC - Zoe Ball
Zoe Ball reads out your birthday cards (and operates the vision mixer too!). Followed by a slightly disturbing trail for Live And Kicking. Watch it and you'll see what I mean...
Children's BBC - Princess & Frog Ident
Bizarre ident for CBBC, a princess kisses a frog and turns into a pair of pants and a cow (amongst other things)
Children's BBC - Elvis Fish Ident
A rare treat here, a full clean ident for CBBC featuring a rather wierd fishy theme.Images of other idents designed by BBC Manchester's Graphic Design Derpartment
1997 - 2001
CBBC One Ident - Lava Lamp
With the introduction of the new BBC corporate logo in 1997, The "Children's BBC" title is no more and "CBBC" is born.
CBBC One Ident & Presentation
Otis The Ardvaark puts in an appearance before a trailer for Linfords Record Breakers (possibly the worst incarnation of the show) which follows Ace Ventura Pet Detective. Watch out for the ident featuring an out of breath mouse who has an idea! Also featuring is the lovely Kirsten O'Brien.
CBBC One Christmas Ident
CBBC's Christmas kaleidoscope from December 1997. There were two versions, used on BBC1 and BBC2.
