'South at Six' was BBC South's original news magazine. The first presenter was Martin Muncaster who had been poached from Southern Television. The programme's name was short lived and it was soon renamed 'South Today'.1970s

The production team used to refer to the cube as the flying fridge. The titles changed colour according to the season. Brown for summer and blue for the winter.

After 30 years the BBC decided that it was time to look for new premises in Southampton. Saturday the 7th September 1991 saw the last programme from South Western House delivered by Mr South Today himself, Bruce Parker. At the end of the bulletin Bruce gets up from behind the desk and heads for the door, turning the lights off on his way out!1991 - 1993

Sally joined BBC South in 1987 and is now South Today's main presenter. She was awarded the MBE in 2005 for her services to regional broadcasting. In 1999 she was forced to take a break from the programme to undergo treatment for breast cancer. She allowed her progress to be followed for a documentary "Facing Cancer" which was produced by BBC South. A brave and special lady who is much loved by viewers in the region.2002 -
