
PBS - Public Broadcasting Service is as the name says, America's public broadcasting network. Funded by the state from U.S. taxpayers, also sponsors and private donations.
Founded in 1969, it took over from NET which broadcast in the 50's and 60's.
Today PBS broadcasts many British drama and comedy programmes from BBC and Channel 4 and quality made PBS programmes from WGBH in Boston, WQED in Pittsburgh and WNET in New York to over 300 non-profit affiliates across the States, some of the affiliate stations are in universities.
