Bruce Forsyth's Big Night
ITV had just poached Brucie from the BBC and he even uses his age old catchphrase from the Generation Game. Although this is not an obvious identity link, this LWT programme, from 1978 seemed very keen to promote a national image for ITV. The first edition went out on 7 October 1978.
For those that don't want to watch the clip, here are the lyrics:
I don't know where you are, you may be near or far
So let's get the network together, it's Saturday night
You may be on your own, not even a telephone
So let's get the network together, it's Saturday night
It's a turn on, it's a party, guess that's why I happen to feel so hail and hearty
Remember on ITV, we're the channel you get for free
So let's get the network together, don't worry about the weekend weather
It's the Big Night in on ITV, I can't see you but you can see me,
on the network every Saturday night
Get the whole of the network together tonight!
Oh they don't write 'em like that anymore!

Another case for the tough, wise-cracking cockney detective Hazell, played by Nicholas Ball. Created by 'P.B. Yuill', the pen name of creators Gordon Williams and ex-England football manager Terry Venables (we kid you not), the series ran for 2 years from 1978 to 1980 and was produced by Thames Television. The trailer is from 19 March 1978.
