If you grew up in the Midlands during the 80s, then you'll probably recognise these faces. In-vision continuity was phased out by 1987 replaced by more fashionable computer generated idents.

Click for larger image In 1985 Central introduced a new main ident to proceed programmes made for the ITV Network. In 1985 they also introduced a new style of animated presentation graphics. Various animations were done using 3-dimensional shapes from the Central 'cake' now animate in an out to form the logo.

Remember only a few years ago (at the time) the Channel 4 flying shapes logo had just been introduced, so this was a trend for the time, using the latest animation techniques in computer graphics. It would have also been very expensive to produce.
