So how do you show ATV programmes on ITV when the company no longer officially exists?
Central Regional Ident1988
In 1985 Central also introduced a new symbol for their regional idents and graphics. This would be come known as the 'cake' and a tv design classic. Various animations were made using 3-dimensional computer graphics shapes from the Central 'cake' thata animate in an out to form the logo.
These 2 examples feature bolts of light, adding colour to the symbol. 2nd clip is from 6.11.1988 For futher examples see the continuity page.

Between the years of 1988 and 1996, Central introduced a number of variations of their Cake. They consisted of both the standard colour 3D cakes and a selection of "textured" live-action model idents.
1997 - 1998
The last set of Central cake idents before the 'Carltonisation' in 1999.
Central 1998
1998 and horror, the Central Cake is no more! Replaced by a hybrid of the Carlton idents of the time, cleverly replacing the name Carlton with Central!
