In March 1993 Tyne Tees split into two news regions. Tyne Tees Today for the north of the region and Network North for the south. This edition with Stuart McNeil and Pam Royle.

Tyne Tees News (South)?
The top story is a plane crash south of Harrogate on the North and West Yorkshire boundary which killed 12 people. Although Harrogate and the northern parts of Leeds are outside of Tyne Tees' main broadcast area, the Bilsdale transmitter covers all of north Yorkshire and the northern parts of West and East Yorkshire, hence Tyne Tees covering this story.

In 1996, when the Tyne Tees name was dropped, bosses had to also change the name of the regional news output so Tyne Tees Today became North East Today and Mike Neville joined from the BBC as the programme's host, In this edition, Mike's 60th birthday is marked with a special North East 3 birthday cake.
