Initially Coast to Coast ran as an hour long programme from 5.30pm which included the ITN News at 5.45 within it. These short titles were used to rejoin the programme at 6.00pm.

Set changes too in Southampton. This edition of Coast to Coast comes from 1983 and is presented by Khalid Aziz. It wouldn't be long before he left the programme.

In 1983 the titles were refreshed and a whole set was created featuring even more scenes from the South and South East. The orange sunset at the end of the titles was also retired at this point.

While there was a new set for the programme in Maidstone, in Southampton the same studio was retained - with the minor modification of the new Coast to Coast logo. A new set was introduced the following year which lasted (with a couple of minor alterations) until TVS went off the air.

TVS refreshed its on screen branding for one final time in 1989. Coast to Coast was largely unchanged although the titles were amended slightly.

Coast to Coast - Regional Opt
During the final years of Coast to Coast there was a short opt point in the Southampton edition where viewers in the northern part of the region (later to become the Thames Valley Meridian region) recieved different news to the southern half. These video clips show how the opt was handled.

Mike Debens and Liz Wickham present Coast to Coast on the 17th January 1991, the start of the first Gulf War. The outbreak of war dominated this edition and Mike has access to a computer terminal to bring up to the minute updates from the front line.

COAST TO COAST PEOPLE
Coast to Coast People was a spin off show airing weekly in the afternoons. Typically it focused on celebrities and local personalities.
Coast to Coast People
Coast to Coast People was launched in 1987 as a spin-off to the main programme. It was usually broadcast in a weekday lunchtime slot and focused on one long interview with a celebrity or local news maker. Each half of the region had its own edition presented usually by the secondary presenter - Fern Britton in the South and Mike Fuller/Liz Wickham in the South East.
