TVS made a couple of attempts at daytime programming, the first was Not For Women Only. As the title suggests the programme recognised that it wasn't just the ladies watching daytime TV. Jill Cochraine was not the only presenter, she was joined by Derek Hobson at the TVS Television Theatre in Gillingham.

Click for larger image David 'Kid' Jenson fronted this pop music series. This intially started as a five minute slot on Coast to Coast but later developed into a series in its own right - this is the Christmas special from 1983.

Click for larger image A sci-fi sitcom writen by and staring Robin Driscoll who is probably better known for playing small roles in other comedies. The new town of Middleford is taken over by aliens who are plotting to take other the world. Produced for Channel 4.

Click for larger image Fred Dinenage hosted this nostalgia quiz show which formed part of the Afternoon Club strand of programmes. Each programme focused on a particular year. Featuring Lord Montagu of Beaulieu keeping the score, a car from the Beaulieu motor museum in the studio and a terrific opening sequence - filmed at the Beaulieu Estate!

Bobby Davro had already made a name for himself as an impressionist by the mid 1980s, at which point TVS signed him to an exclusive contract to produce programmes for the company. After Bobby Davro on the box similar series 'Bobby's Sketch Pad' and 'Bobby Davros TV Weekly' followed.

Click for larger image P.O.V. was screened during Monday's 'Late Night Late'. It was basically short programmes interlinked by cutting-edge yoof debate, direct from the corner of a pub.

Click for larger image Stefan Buczacki presents this 1990 episode of the regional gardening programme. This edition comes from Eastborne. The programme enjoyed a long run on TVS and had various presenters through the years including a certain Debbie Thrower of Meridian Tonight fame.

Steve Johnson (with a little bit of assistance from his chauffeur) did a bit of moonlighting in 1990 to host this short What's On guide for children and families during the school holidays.

Click for larger image Veronica Charlwood and Dennis Skillicorn present a six-part series looking at the world of dogs and dog care. This edition went behind the scenes at the filming of a big Pedigree Chum advert, other programmes looked at behaviour problems and breeds of dogs.

Click for larger image Psychotherapist Phillip Hodson first appeared alongside Jill Cochraine fronting Problem Page which was created to fill some of the airtime left after Afternoon Club ended.
 
Hodson Confidential was broadcast late at night and dealt more frankly with relationship issues.

Click for larger image After TV-am but before joining the BBC, Anne Diamond presented TV weekly. Shown in the afternoon in most ITV regions (with an early evening repeat on TVS) the programme looked behind the scenes of various TV programmes and interviewed various personalities from in front and behind the camera.

1991
Click for larger image Contestants try to work out well known catchphrases from a series of computer animations. Host Roy Walker had a few Catchphrases of his own such as "If you see it, say it" and "It's good but not right". The programme was so popular that production continued (virtually unaltered) throughout the 90s courtesy of Carlton TV.
