1982
Click for larger image The first programme on TVS opened with Coast to Coast presenter Khalid Aziz standing outside the IBA and introducing TVS, later he gives us a whistle stop tour of the region from the air. After this introduction the rest of the programme was presented live and followed the same format as Coast to Coast. At the very end of the programme Khalid introduced a Dog which TVS had adopted (in reality the dog lived with Khalid), they asked viewers for a name - eventually the name Coaster was chosen.

1984/1987

TVS branded it's community features Public Service Announcements or P.S.A.'s which were typically a static caption with information read by a continuity announcer or a memeber of the news team. They also sometimes used the name 'PO Box 13' which was the easy to remember post office box address which viewers could write to for further information. By the 1990s public service announcements had taken on the form of a regular commercial which appeared at the end of a normal advert break.

1988
Click for larger image 24 hour television arrived in 1988. TVS branded its overnight programming strand Late Night Late and in vision continuity returned with the presenters reading viewers letters and sometimes holding competitions. Channel Television also took the overnight service from TVS and the 6am continuity link into TV-am was also made over an unbranded clock and the words 'This is Independent Television in the South, South East and the Channel Islands'.

This clip shows a short break in service and gives us a chance to hear a bit more of the Late Night Late theme tune. The service was given a new look to match TVS' new identity in 1989 with the title sequence featuring a man sitting in a chair with two lamps either side of him.

1992
Click for larger image Eleven years after Southern TV ended their transmissions with a spectacular final programme TVS did exactly the same with Goodbye to All That. The programme was presented by Fred Dinenage and Fern Britton (who else could?) and as a nice touch Malcolm Brown introduced the pair and also provided voiceovers throughout the programme. To close the programme a last post salute to TVS with a final amendment to the ident thanking the viewers for watching.
