9 O'Clock News Trail
One might conclude that the continuity suite wasn't quite ready for the 9 O'clock News trail. John was definitely ready though.
Opting out, or not, as the case may be. Before the days of digital television, the default region was BBC South East. Here's two examples of when things didn't quite go to plan at BBC Wales, resulting in a sneak look at how BBC South East do things.
1st clip - BBC Wales News - with Beverley Thompson (Jenni Murray). To begin with a Late Bulletin from BBC Wales or BBC South East, Hmm!
2nd clip - BBC Wales News - with Noreen Bray (Jane Markham). This bulletin started so well and then, oh dear who pushed that button! What did happen here?
1st clip - BBC Wales News - with Chris Morgan (Rob Curling). A classic, quick, wake up we're on! Notice how Chris began the Bulletin on time, reading the news to Broadcasting House in Llandaff.
2nd clip - BBC South East News - with Steve Clarke. Not really a mistake. BBC Wales opted out for most of the last half of the Breakfast Election Special, showing it on BBC 2 Wales instead. This was the result of the Regional opt at the end of the programme.

BBC News - Fault
This election report started out so well until someone accidentally pressed the rewind button on the beta machine. Listen carefully with headphones at 0.38 and you'll hear someone in the background saying "oops"
