Click for larger image This mistake comes 50 seconds after the end of transmission and 10 seconds before the testcard was due to appear. They brought in the test card early to recover from the fault rather than keeping the VT clock onscreen to give us all a countdown until the nightly closedown appearance of ETP-1.

Click for larger image Listen to this clip through headphones, turn the volume up and you'll hear the gallery say at the beginning of the clip "small problem" and "ok Sally we have some issues".  Listen again at 1:18 and you'll hear "and cue..." as our announcer tells us that we'll be joining C4 News "in about 2 minutes". In the mean time, lets listen to the variation of the Channel 4 tune.
