In 1997 BBC News 24 was launched, so to coincide with this, BBC World was given a makeover with a simple logo superimposed at the bottom of the screen to match all of the BBC channels at the time.

BBC World News overnight
1998 Alistair Yates with the overnight service (1.00am - 5.30am) from BBC World. It was also simulcast on BBC One and BBC News 24, hence the change of name to simply 'BBC News'
