The ITN News Channel was launched in August 2000 on both Digital Satellite and Cable networks. It was originally jointly owned by ITN and cable operator NTL and broadcast 24 hours a day from ITN's headquarters.
 
The channel became jointly owned by Granada, Carlton and NTL, Granada and Carlton having bought out ITN's 65% share in the Spring of 2002. Subsequently the channel was re-named the ITV News Channel on Monday 30th Sepember 2002.

John Suchet with the first exclusive bulletin at 7am on Monday 30th September 2002. The first ITV News branded bulletin was a simulcast of the ITV Morning News at 5.30am repeated at 6am and 6.30am!
