Before BBC Three there was BBC Choice. The general entertainment channel was launched on 23rd September 1998 as the BBC's 3rd general entertainment channel to compliment BBC1 and BBC2.
 
The channel also featured regional variations for the Nations - Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but they ceased on 1st June 2001. Eventually the channel closed during the early hours of February 8th 2003.

BBC Choice idents were designed by Lambie-Nairn. The theme is making the link plus a design of '3' to reflect the BBC's third general entertainment channel. Lambie Nairn describes the images aim "to capture the spirit of BBC Choice and reinforce its identity as a lively, accessible channel with broad appeal."

Furry Mouse, clockwork mouse and computer mouse.
 
The regional variations were initially broadcast from 10pm till Midnight five nights a week. Uniquely digital satellite viewers were able to tune into all four versions of BBC Choice.

The much loved Liquid News, was shown weeknights on BBC Choice. Basically Heat magazine on tv. The series was originally fronted by Christopher Price, who sadly died in 2002.
 
In 2004 Liquid News was eventually axed, but a spin-off series Liquid Assests survived.
