ITV3 launched on 1st November 2004. Initially it was only going to be transmitted via cable and Freeview but at the last moment was also available on Sky. The Granada Plus channel was switched off during the early part of the afternoon, ITV2 took its place on channel 118 of the EPG and ITV3 was introduced at 119. A countdown clock was featured and at 9.00pm an announcer briefly introduced the channel over an ident and it was straight into the first programme; Rebus.
ITV3 Launch2004 An interesting animation has been used for the idents which an ITV press release described in this way: "To apply the third dimension to the shows themselves, the channel IDs show three views of a particular scene frozen in time, with a light cube of the logo as a motivator to move between viewpoints. The viewer follows the cube on its journey through the scene, until it resolves into the logo".
