UK Play
Originally called UK Play, it was the UK's only music and comedy channel at the time, and had a BBC2 flavour to it, showing programmes like Shooting Stars, The Royle Family and League of Gentlemen. Some original programming included TOTP@Play, a spin off Top of the Pops show with phone-in requests much like MTV Select.
Play UK
In November 2000 UK Play was renamed Play UK.
Play UK Idents
Lambie Nairn created the new on-air look for Play UK. Creative Director Brain Eley said, "We wanted to develop the idea of the 'sound' of music and comedy on Play. We generated visuals that react to sound using oscilloscopes and graphic equalisers. It's basically great fun."
