BBC Cymru has produced the news in Welsh on S4C from the start in 1982. It has a dedicated team of presenters and features not only Welsh stories but National and International stories too.
Today BBC Cymru produces 2 bulletins for S4C, one for 5 minutes at 6.00pm, the other at 7.30pm for 25 minutes. They are broadcast from the same studio as BBC Wales Today.

A sound only file of an early edition of Newyddion, produced by BBC Cymru for S4C. Boy is this music dated, you'd never guess it's from the eighties!
1986 - 1988

Newyddion - with Angharad Mair.
A new computer generated titles sequence was introduced during 1986. This edition from 1987 is presented by Angharad Mair, who most likely had just read a BBC Wales Today bulletin over on BBC 1 Wales!

The last main edition to use these titles was broadcast in September 1988. This bulletin was also the last presented by Beti George. (well for a while anyway!)
1988 - 1993

September 1988 saw a new programme schedule for S4C. No less than 3 editions of Newyddion were now to be produced daily, at 12.30pm, 6.00pm and 8.30pm. The last 2 bulletins were to be presented from 2 locations, Cardiff and Bangor.

Newyddion - with Keith Jones and Nia Ceidiog.
Keith and Nia present the main edition of the programme from Bangor and Cardiff with the longer set of titles used for the main bulletins (the previous set being for the shorter bulletins).
1993 - 1996

Newyddion - with Dewi Lloyd.
1993, and a new set of titles for Newyddion. The titles even included a sequence leading into Broadcasting House in Cardiff itself!
Newyddion1995
Newyddion - with Angharad Mair. Now moved to 6 O'clock the programme was called Newyddion 6, although there was no mention of the 6 in the on screen title.
Angharad presents with the longer titles used for the main bulletins (the previous set being for the shorter bulletins) and a new set.
1996 - 1999

A new set of titles had been introduced by 1996. This set of tiles also included the by now obligatory BBC logo, in line with other BBC produced programmes.
1999 - 2005

Newyddion - with Dewi Lloyd.
1999, in line with all other BBC News bulletins, Newyddion was given the BBC News corporate look. Hmm, that set looks awfully similar to the BBC Wales Today one!
Newyddion2001 Newyddion - with Gary Owen.
Widesreen arrived at S4C in 2001. Just like it's sister programme, BBC Wales Today, Newyddion is broadcast in true 16:9 ratio.
Newyddion2005 Newyddion - with Eleri Morgan.
Sunday 6th March saw the last look at the Newyddion titles as we know them, a new look beckons on Monday.

Monday 7th March 2005 saw BBC Newyddion take on (nearly) the BBC National News look. Quite fitting really when it covers National and International stories as well as covering Wales
