Search Out Science
1990
Search Out Science replaced Science Workshop. The latter ended in the 1988/89 season. Basic concepts were to introduce children to some of the processes, skills and concepts of science at their level. Practical work was encouraged through the series to help children grasp scientific ideas. Programme support material was supplied.
Wondermaths
c. 1990
The BBC Radiophonic Workshop herald this series from a decade ago. Not a series I remember, though it appears to be aimed at 10-12 years olds.
Update
1992
Even less for Pres fans to enjoy when, from September 1991, BBC2 dispensed with intervals between Schools programmes. The gaps would remain but a variety of material was used to fill them. One such filler was Update, which showcased the programmes available for different subject areas.
Watch
1992
No more plasticine but still an animated look as Watch moves into the 1990s.
Look And Read: Sky Hunter II
1992
Look And Read's popular format continued into the 1990s. But producers were again looking to the past for inspiration. Sky Hunter was repackaged as Sky Hunter II, with the original film inserts and former child stars Jayne Tottman, Luke Batchelor and Donald Waugh reprising their roles.
But it was the end of an era. Sue Weeks fell victim to a BBC cull of schools producers, so not surprisingly this was Wordy's final series. Things would never be the same again.
Scene
1993
Scene celebrated its 25th birthday with a very slick new intro. The fanfare came from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, still also going strong. Cuts in daytime schools programming meant Scene's days were numbered.
