From Autumn Term 2000 Channel 4 Schools was renamed 4Learning. The idents and themes were the same albeit rebranded.

Intervals

4Learning Interval 1
2000
This was really a public information film (pif). It features young lads playing around in a railway yard. The underlining statement being made here is stay alive by not playing on the railways!

4Learning Interval 2
2000
Some more terrific stop-motion animation in this interval sequence. It's a parody of the painting "Time Transfixed", with the train bursting through the fireplace. This is an identical frame to the image found on industrial music album KPM1309 (KPM 1000 Series).

4Learning Interval 3
2000
A stop-motion 3D version of Vincent Van Gough's Room in Arles (1889).

Two pieces of film are used in five different idents. Each variant is distinguishable by the colour of the 4Learning logo at the end.

Apologies for the poor quality. These are currently legacy clips until originals are found.

Countdown Theme Tunes
2002
The theme tune did not vary through the duration of this schools TV presentation era.

The 2001 idents were still going strong at the start of Spring Term 2004. However, just before half term they vanished in what is perhaps the biggest shock 4Learning has delivered so far. Gone were the school-based sequences in favour of just one 60-second holding device, showing two teenagers walking the streets and passing each other at the end.

Holding Sequence

Holding Sequence (Clean)
2004
The streets are covered with murals which come to life, presenting powerful images of youth culture. The countdown is also gone, leaving only the 4Learning URL to remind the viewer they are watching schools programmes. It was first thought the new look was for a special "teen week" of 4Learning programmes.

Holding Sequence (Standard)
2004
In shorter junctions programmes are introduced using edits from the main film and C4's regular Now and Next device. Programme support details have been dropped; instead the 4Learning phone number is read out over the credits.
