
The Satelllite Shop began life on May 1st 1989 with a low key launch. Transmitting from 8am until 2pm before the start of Sky Movies. This timeslot was orginally planned for The Disney Channel, but it never happened. The Satellite Shop channel was backed by mail order company Grattan, and was the first ever shopping channel to start in the UK
The main presenters included Ross Davidson who played Andy the nurse in Eastenders, Sarah Hollamby the nanny from "Whose Baby?" and an early tv appearance from Rob Brydon - the comedian.
The channel was closed and later reborn as The Shopping Channel
