2 different clips of the same titles from Anglia and Central here for you to enjoy.

The series was set in and around Sydney's Albert Memorial Hospital, in it's heyday The Young Doctors was rubbished by critics for its poor scripts and unconvincing acting, but that of course was its charm, like Crossroads. If real nurses wore dresses as tight and short as those in the soap, they'd probably end up in hospital beds themselves!

The series ran for 6 years.

One memorable character was Ada, played by Gwen Plumb as the busy body kiosk attendant. Her character was involved in various laughable storylines including having her appendix removed in a lift, fell from a cliff suffered amnesia and then had heart surgery, she also suffered another heart attack whilst on duty.

The Young Doctors was axed in Australia, 1982 this was actually due to the advent of one-day cricket. Kerry Packer frequently changed the time slot to accommodate cricket coverage on his Australian tv channel, ratings plummeted, and after 6 years the wards were vacated, kiosk emptied of sweets and sandwiches and the last glass of sweet white wine was poured at Bunny's Place.
